History behind Rohingya Crisis

In the Rakhine region, thousands of Rohingya came to former Arakan Kingdom in fifteenth Century and many other arrived during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when Rakhine was governed by colonial rule as part of British India. Since, independence in 1948, the government in Burma renamed Myanmar, refuted Rohingya's historical claims and denied their recognition. Myanmar is a predominantly Buddhist country. Myanmar's government discriminatory policy since 1970s compelled Minority Muslim Rohingya to flee their homes. During 1962 Rohingya population in Myanmar suffered from both the military rule as well as Buddhist majority in Rakhine State. Since, that time they begin to flee to Bangladesh. In 1982, government of Myanmar declares Official 135 ethnic groups and Rohingya are not included leaving them stateless and no citizenship. In June and October of 2012 Religious violence took over in Rakhine state that killed more than 200 people and cause 1,50,000+ people homeless. Rohingya were forbidden to participate in 2014, the first official census in Myanmar over decades. During elections held in 2015 after easing Military rule, Rohingya were not allowed to participate neither as candidate nor as voter. In 2016, a serious armed conflict occurs in Myanmar; Rakhine state which caused 87,000 people to flee to Bangladesh.

Current Status of Rohingya Crisis

Till date the number of Rohingya people fled for their lives across the border into Bangladesh reached more than 10,00,000 (we call it ten lakhs; internationally 1 million). As many as 15,000 people crossing the boarder in single day sometimes. The unknown number of people displaced in northern Rakhine State not in any official records.  The refugees escaping to Bangladesh have walked for miles on end. More haven't eaten for days. They don't have money for food, shelter or medicine. The threat of disease and hunger is equally threatening them.  They urgently need support. 60 km or more to walk to reach camps in Bangladesh or shared boat with hundreds of people. UN Secretary – General Antonio Guterres called the situation "Catastrophic" and he requested the Myanmar authorities to suspend military action and end the violence. This community have opinion that they are treated as football as they are kicked from both sides. Now, it's time to raise hand against this unhuman act to Rohingya community.

Iterate through Instances Java

Do you need to to keep track of all the instances of your class? Do you need to iterate through all the instances of your class. Once I need to. Here we will save all the instances in a static array.
This method is considered as Bad Design. If you can find any other solution solve it that way.
Iterate through instance Java

Iterate through Instances

Here is a simple Token class. We keep track of all the instances while creating and letter look through all the created instances to check a simple condition and reset that token if it does.

//A simple Token class
public class Token {
    static List allCreatedTokens = new ArrayList();

    public Color color;
    public int location;
    public int id;

    public static Token createToken(Color color, int location, int id){
        Token aToken = new Token(color, id, location);
        allCreatedTokens.add(aToken);
        return aToken;
    }

    private Token(Color color, int id, int location) {
        this.color = color;
        this.id = id;
    }

    public void goHome(){
        for(Token token : allCreatedTokens){
            if(token.id != id){
                if(token.location == location
                token.reset();
            }
        }
    }

    public void reset(){

    }

    void kill() {
        allCreatedTokens.remove(this);
    }
}
Here we create a static method called createToken(). Here we pass all the required parameters for object creation. Then in this method we create a object of the Token class and add it in the static Array allCreatedTokens. Now we have all the created tokens stored in this Array. We can access all the instances as needed.
In the goHome() method. We compare current token with all the other tokens that were created. And reset the token to its original state.
Storing all the instances would cause memory leakage since those objects will never be disposed of, since the list will still be referencing them. We need to call the kill() method in that instance you no longer need to remove it from the list and thus Garbage Collector can remove it.
Other option could be to create a separate manager class.

Conclusion

With tracking all the instances in a static array list, and as it is stored in Array we can iterate through it. Thank you!

Make Custom Display Resolution Ubuntu

The display resolution is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. It is usually mentioned as width × height. Screen resolution is the number of horizontal and vertical pixels on a display screen. for example, "1024 × 768" means 1024 horizontal pixels and 768 vertical pixels.

Some most common Screen resolution

1360 × 768 and 1366 × 768 is considered as HD Normal or HD Ready.
1600 × 900 is HD+
1920 × 1080 is Full HD.
3840 × 2160 is 4K.
The aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between the width and height. It is the ratio between width and the height for the screen. The most common aspect ratios are 4:3, 16:10, 16:9 (Mostly Used).

Make Custom Display Resolution Ubuntu-- Resolution Options

How to make Custom Resolution on Ubuntu

We need to add new mode of screen resolution on our computer for that we will use xrandr utility at Ubuntu. To add new mode we need to specify the model using the ModeLine syntax for xorg.conf.
We can create the model structure for our required resolution using the gtf tool. We need to provide the desired horizontal and vertical resolutions and refresh rate (in Hz). Then it will printout for a matching VESA GTF mode.
For the resolution of 1600 x 900 and refresh rate 60 run gtf 1600 900 60

$

gtf 1600 900 60
119.00  1600 1696 1864 2128  900 901 904 932  -HSync +Vsync
Now we get the output which is the required Model syntax for the tool xrandr. Now run xrandr --newmode "1600x900_60" 119.00 1600 1696 1864 2128 900 901 904 932 -HSync +Vsync and to add this mode xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 1600x900_60 Here 1600x900_60 is the name of the mode.
$
$
xrandr --newmode "1600x900_60" 119.00  1600 1696 1864 2128  900 901 904 932  -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 1600x900_60
Important Remember that the HDMI-1 is for my PC. It may be different for your pc as HDMI1, or you are using VGA port. You can find the currently available Resolution usong xrandr command. You will find your connected monitor there. So if you find some error "xrandr: cannot find output "HDMI-1"" You need to check how your monitor is stated on xrandr.
Again to make things clear. for 1500x844 @ 60 Hz.
$

$
$
gtf 1500 844 60
# 1504x844 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 52.44 kHz; pclk: 104.04 MHz
Modeline "1504x844_60.00"  104.04  1504 1584 1744 1984  844 845 848 874  -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --newmode "1500x844_60" 104.04  1504 1584 1744 1984  844 845 848 874  -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 1500x844_60

Conclusion

Here we learn how to add out own custom resolution in the display. We can use gtf to create the model required. And provide the model to add new create new model using xrandr and add the newly created model in the dropdown menu.

How to write Academic Research Proposal

In this post I will be explaining how to write academic research proposal in simple words. In most of the acadimic institution student have to perform research in his final year or semester to complete his /her degree in the particular academic field. For doing some research student may not have sufficient balance to carry out research. Student should submit a nice proposal for conducting research in his/her topic from someone else support. However, the proposal to be submitted to different organization varies depends on the format of proposal the organization willing to accept. Here, I will be discussing most general and mostly acceptable proposal. This is very general and for those who don't have idea how to write Academic Research Proposal before.
How to write Academic Research Proposal -- Proposal

Academic Research Proposal is your first step in producing a thesis of your research or your project.Before you start writing an Academic Research Proposal you have to

  • Declare your topic on which you like do research on.
  • Do literature review from the latest journal and topic related to that topic.

After doing this you are now ready to prepare your academic research. Here in this article I particularly focused on research proposal submitted in your academic institution. There are various kind of proposal type. The format may vary depending on your institution. The proposal should address the project. Proposal intent to convienced academic committee to get approval to proceed to actual research. Here, the general proposal format mention below in step wise.

Steps of Research Proposal

How to write Academic Research Proposal -- simple steps in proposal
General Steps in Research Proposal

  1. Title : It should be short and Catchy.
  2. Abstract : It should be about 300 words (may vary). It should include background, research problem, overall objective, Methodology, Independent variables, Data, data collection, Data analysis, Impact, Expected Output, etc. in summary. The abstract alone should able to give a clear idea about the research.
  3. Introduction : About 1 & 1/2 page used for introducing main subject area and setting the research problem. A typical way of starting :
    1. Introduce and document the existence of the overall subject area, then
    2. The particular niche, and
    3. Possibley the geographical focus area.
    4. Apply funnel - like approach: going from the overall to the specific. The research problem can be introduced in the background section following the description of the niche, where the knowledge gap is emphasized. Most of statement are normally supported by reference - existing studies (evidence).
  4. Problem (analysis and) statement (1 and 1/2 page) : Justification (knowledge gap) should also be included in problem statement. A scientific problem must be of relevance to others than researcher and scientific community.
  5. Objectives (1/2 page) : On the basis of problem analysis/literature review objectives are identified. It should be clear whether the objectives is relevant and justified. The overall objective should be something that the study will contribute towards but not solve/finish. It should not be the compilation of the specific objectives.
  6. Literature Review ( 3 page ) : It should introduced knowledge gap and variables that are relevant to your research. It try to keep the track of the literature searched along the way you can use for your research. Literature review could also add to the justification of choice of subject mentioned in background section. Recent literature that critically synthesises knowledege within subject need to be considers in literature review. Relevant literature should be identify through systematic literature search. The literature must be critically read, approach and conclusion must be evaluated. Literature are presented in an argument logically leading to the objectives.
  7. Limitations (brief) : Although the specific objective may be quite narrow and may required more data collection and analysis than possible for a thesis. Thus, to demonstrate a good overview of general subject area it should be specified what aspect will not be addressed and how this will limit the conclusions.
  8. Research Methods ( 3 page) : It should include: Study Area, Sampling design, variables, data collection method and data analysis.
  9. Expected Outcome (brief) : Specified which parameter would be analysed and specify what kind of output is expected from your research. Specifying the expected output ihelp to test the coheraence of the research design. How conclusion are made baded on the data collected with reagard to the research objectives.
  10. References : Reference list is provided so that the reader should able to find the reference used. Full reference should be written in reference list. Scientific referencing system should be used and that should be consistent. All the reference in the text should be in the list of reference and vice versa.
Appendix A : Time schedule (Implementation plan): Clearly shows what would be done when. The implementation should be realistic in given time and money available.

Appendix B : Research Matrix : A visual representation of the research matrix help to ensure coherence and smooth movement toward achieving the research objectives. Formats may vary with the specifics of the research project.

Appendix C : List of Data Collection Instrumants : For a good research proposal translated into good results when prepared throughly data collection. For measurements and observations this means preparation of data entry form, while for surveys and interviews questionaires and interview guidea are necessary. This includes a list of required data collection instruments only, not the instruments themselves in detail.

Appendix D : Budget (if relevant): It may be relevant to include a budget with the heading such as for example: transport, permits, local assistants, accommodation, stationary, meeting expenses (covering what you might serve participants in group meeting etc.). that would figure out estimated cost to carry out the research. This would help to fund to the researcher by an institution to carry out the research.
