Talking about Asia, first record of newspaper were found in 1768 AD used by British East India Company. Bengal Gazette was the first newspaper published in 1780 from India. History of Newspapers in Nepal

The development of the media goes parallel with the political changes of any country in the world. Prime Minister Janga Bahadur Rana had imported a hand press, it was used after 48 years to publish the first newspaper of Nepal "Sudha Sagar". And Different newspaper were published during the Rana period, including Gorkhapatra.
Gorkhapatra was first published on 14th of Baisakh, 1958 B.S. as a weekly newspaper. There were no any other source of information(media) to inform the people and it was the period when general people are far from the reach of education.
Nepal Guardian is the first English monthly magazine which was published from Kathmandu in 2010 BS (1948 AD).
Gorkhapatra became daily from 2017 Falgun 7 (after 59 years of its publication). Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post, the first broadsheet national dailies from the private sector were published in 2049 Falgun 7th.

Sudha Sagar, First Newspaper of Nepal

As we already mentioned Sudha Sagar is the first newspaper in Nepal. During the Rana Period, Prime Minister Junga Bahadur Rana had visited Europe and imported a hand press. He visited Europe in 1907 BS. This hand press was used to print "Sudha Sagar".
